Jay Abdullahi and Kym Oliver are raising awareness of the often overlooked intersection of race, disability, and gender.

Moving through the world as a Black woman means being subjected to a unique form of oppression at the crux of both misogyny and racism. It results in Black women experiencing prejudice in the world of employment, dating, healthcare and more. So when you’re a Black woman who is also disabled, where does this leave you? Tired of never seeing disabled people’s stories highlighted by mainstream media, let alone those of Black disabled women, Jay Abdullahi and Kym Oliver decided to act. They formed The Triple Cripples and together they raise awareness of the often overlooked intersection of race, disability and gender through their Youtube channel, launched in summer 2018, and public speaking.
