ngd- For people who have no friends with a history of severe burns, the video can be visually tough. But, like all forms of ableism, what we are taught about appearance and worth is a devaluing myth. Embrace relationships with people who are labeled as having significant disabilities…

Meet Noah, a determined person who was in a house explosion at age 12. I met him as his instructor in 2004 and we also worked together at Long Beach City College.

At age 12, Noah was in a house explosion resulting in 6-degree burns. We talk about his schooling, family issues, life adjustments, massive amounts of discrimination, going to college, self-advocacy, employment issues, the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF), and future aspirations.

The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation is a California-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing burns and fires and providing services to those who have been affected by a burn injury. Their website is www.aarbf.org.

If you are watching from another state or country, google burn foundations and see what appears.
