The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) Technical Assistance (TA) Center will host a webinar focused on increasing access to resources and supports for military and veteran children, families and caregivers.

Military and veteran families and caregivers often face unique challenges. Families and caregivers play a critical role in the lives of our service members and veterans by helping them access services and supports. Providing resources and strategies to increase outreach and access to caring contacts can enhance the work of community service providers and peers using a comprehensive public health approach to support military families and children.

This presentation will discuss some of the recent increases in access and changes to policy with regards to TRICARE for military kids, provide insight into the Department of Defense’s prevention efforts for military families, including the Military Family Life Consultant and the Military OneSource Call Center, and provide examples of how the Military and Veteran Caregiver Network (MCVN) is offering peer-based support and services through specific programs to connect those providing care to SMVF with access points to specific behavioral health resources.

Time: Mar 12, 2020 01:30 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
