The mother of a 13-year-old Everett High School student has not been contacted by school officials in the month since his death, she said, despite an ongoing investigation by the school district.

Michael Martin, 13, was bullied for months, his mother Joanna Wohlfert said, and died from suicide Jan. 25.

Lansing School District officials haven’t reached out to talk with her about the bullying since Michael’s death, Wohlfert said, or her numerous attempts to get help from school staff in the months before he died.

District spokesman Bob Kolt said Tuesday the district’s investigation is still “active.” He declined to say what the timeline of the investigation is, or whether the district will make its findings public.

Instead Kolt referred the State Journal to a statement it released previously that, in part, states, “The Lansing School District is engaged in a comprehensive and on-going investigation … It is the policy and practice of the district to not comment or share any details pertaining to the investigation while it is on-going.”
