Recovery Month

For twenty-nine years running, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has declared September to be National Recovery Month. During that time, we celebrate those who lead successful lives after overcoming substance use and/or mental illness. Their struggles and triumphs should be celebrated, and September presents us with a chance to tell their story.

This month, the National Council will be participating in several recovery-themed events, including a presentation panel and recovery luncheon. If you need resources for Recovery Month, a collection of infographics, posters, facts and more is free and available on our website. We encourage you to celebrate recovery in your community and check back with us when the 9/14 and 9/28 issues of Focus on Addiction are published.
